What is brainwashing?

westerners often say stuff like Chinese are brainwashed, russians are brainwashed...etc

what is brainwashing? i often find the word brainwashing being used when a Chinese say that China is not as dark as some people believe it to be, or a Russian say that the russian army was actually protesting the people of whatever that place is called.

so what is brainwashing? can I use the word if an american say "Chinese people don't have any freedom and human right?"

can I use the word if CNN says "the chinese army are treating the peaceful demonstration in tibet with violence force?" or when an american says that?

pretty much you are told what to think.  so to other people your life could suck but because your brainwashed you think your life is just fine.

i guess an example would be morals. ever since a young age you were told the usual dont steal, dont kill, fighting is bad etc.

i find that most of the people in America are brainwashed its when you believe,  its because you are a follower,  when you don't think for yourself

means we do not want to change and we are moulded in a perticular form ........... just likt thermsetting plastic...............
