A Taxi Cab is a form of public transport. But, unlike a train or bus, where you can only travel between two set points or stops along the route, a taxi allows  you to travel between any two points you wish.

In general, a taxi is a car fitted out for this purpose, though there are water taxis, for travelling on water ways, and cycle taxis, like tuk tuks in congested areas.

Generally you are paying a flag fall, which is a minimum cost for the hire, then a rate per kilometre (or mile) travelled.

It's a commercial vehicle for hire to anyone to transport you to your destination. The driver is expected to have local knowledge to find a route to your destination.
