What is cardamom substitute?

The closest substitute is ginger although you could use cloves or allspice. Cardamom has a distinctive taste and none of these will quite compare.

brown cardamom

OR equal parts ground nutmeg and cinnamon

OR equal parts ground cloves and cinnamon

OR nutmeg

OR cinnamon

Ginger can be used as a substitute, but Cardamom has it's own distinct flavor that you can't really match.
