  1. when your heart fails its another phrase for a heart attack. they can use the defribliator to revive you

  2. Cardiac arrest is the stoppage off effective heart action with some causes being:

    Acute Myocardial Infarction (heart attack)

    Hypoxaemia

    Hypovolaemia

    Hypo/Hyperthermia

    Hypo/Hyperkalaemia and othe metabolic disorders

    Tamponade

    Tension pneumothorax

    Toxins/ Poisons/ Drugs

    Thrombembolism

So to the previous answer which were really funny, there is more cause to a cardiac arrest than just a heart attack. When the heart stops completely your dead thats it your've gone past cardiac arrest.

Edit: I've read some of the answers and must reiterate that a heart attack is not the only cause for a cardiac arrest.

  3. cardiac = heart

    arrest = stop

Your heart stops.  That is a cardiac arrest.

You can have a heart attack without having a cardiac arrest.

  4. A cardiac arrest the heart has stopped completely or beating in an uncoordinated heart beat.  A heart attack(myocardial infarction) is sudden death of part of the heart muscle.

  5. The easiest way to explain it is

A Cardiac arrest is the heart beat stopping...like an electrical problem

A heart attack is when blood flow to the heart gets blocked...a plumbing problem.

Cardiac arrests are very bad and often deadly and a defibrillator is the only way to reveive these patients.  If you aren';t defibrillated/zapped within about 5 minutes your chances of survival lessen greatly.

A heart attack is also bad but you have a better chance of getting to the hospital alive if you act quickly.

  6. In TV shows when someone is at the hospital and there heart beat goes flat line, thats when the heart stops.

  7. heart attack
