I got a new road bike about 3 weeks ago, and it has been fitted and such, but I've been having really bad back pains.

I've got a race in a week... please help!

  1. My guess is the seat height is a little different than you're used to.  riding posture? Also the handlebars are different?

Are you in training? possibly picked the wrong time to change

Did you have a fall - have a friend look for bruising on your back.  Could even be stress added to by the subtle posture change.

[EDIT] I forgot to mention even the slightest change in neck posture whilst under tension can result in pains right down between the shoulders.  Also it could be the new bike transmits more of the road to you.  Did you opt for a harder frame or wheels to go for speed?
