There is a vibration coming from inside the wall in my bathroom. It makes a thumping noise. It's not constant. It comes and goes.

When I put my finger on the wall where it is coming from and put some pressure on it, it stops. What is causing this?

  1. Possibly air in the pipes.

  2. Definitely water pipes, what you can do is make a small hole and spray a foam sealer into it.  This should quiet the noise without tearing apart the whole wall.  Make sure you locate the noisy pipe first!

  3. idk...weird...

  4. could be air getting in thru a hole, or maybe an animal. need more info to help you out

  5. its called water hammering and it is usually do to a na loose pipe support on your water line.. you can get water hammers they are like shock absorbers. when you shutoff the water at a fixture the pressure of the water suddenly stopping causes the pipe to vibrate.  water hammers absorbs the shock and allows the water to expand causing no vibration.

  6. My guess a lose water pipe vibrating .
