  1. Buzz B has it exactly correct.  Years ago, some of your radical environmentalist groups were h**l bent of protecting trees by outlawing logging.  Logging companies were forbidden to cut down trees to form fire lines, to do controlled burnings etc. that are necessary to prevent catastrophic wildfires.  By clear cutting select areas promoting new growth, cutting down old dried up trees and other practices, fires could be keep contained or prevented entirely.

Just like so many other dopey things environmental groups do, the result of not allowing logging companies to harvest select trees and control burn, Millions of trees are wasted as they burn up anyway in massive uncontrollable wildfires.

But, hey, they mean well.  That's all that matters, right?

  2. The thunder and lightning storms are causing them. But California is dry and the grass and the hills are dry and its so hot that it can start a fire in the grass and plants.

  3. we haven't had a lot of rain the past two seasons so everything is dry! and there are a lot of thunder storms up in the yosemite area.

  4. The enviornmentalists didn't allow the old clearing of brush because of "endangering the endangered animals"

so there is LOTS of fuel for the fires, and little rain, and dry air... and then stupid people who started them accidentally.

  5. Some are lightning strikes, arson, downd power lines, and construction mistake.
