What is causing sap to run out of the trunk of my cherry tree?

I have a 10 yr. old weeping cherry tree from which I have recently noticed sap coming out of the truck about 4 inches from the ground. The ground around the trunk is very mushy. What is causing this and what should I do about it. The tree is healthy otherwise.

  1. It might have rot. I would also check with a professional because if you dont you might loose the tree.
