What is causing this neck pain?

I'm having severe neck pain in my left side of my neck. It hurts to cough or even move it. The pain is also radiating through my ear. Any ideas as to what it could be and how to soothe it if that's possible????

Could be a ear infection,tooth infection or dislocated neck.For now ,floss or tooth pick your teeth,tonight sleep on two stacked pillows on your left side mostly.See a doctor if it gets worse friday.

One possibility is a pinched nerve which can be extreemly painful and shoot in many directions.  I would try gently massaging it with some Bengay if you have it.  Put a towel on afterward and maybe hold some heat on the area till morning when you will call your doctor or clinic, or go to the ER if it's really bad.  They can give immediate treatment and bill you later.  Try relaxing and see if you can get some sleep.  Best wishes and go have it checked even if it feels better in the morning.
