What is chater school and how you apply ?

Charter schools are generally related to the public school system,  so I think you may get more of the responses you are looking for if you ask in the "primary/secondary" section, or even "teaching."    Unless it is an e-school, it wouldn't necessarily apply to homeschooling.

Charter and virtual schools are available in many but not all states. Most, but not all, accept students from their own states across district lines. Since you are posting in homeschool, the programs you are most interested in are the ones where you are provided with curriculum, computer, printer, science gear, and art supplies so you can pursue the subjects at home with your mom or dad teaching you. There are also high school programs as well where you have an online teacher(s) that leads the subjects instead of a parent. Most of the virtuals use the K12 currciculum which is an excellent program. It is available to traditional homeschoolers as well as to the virtuals (public school). We used K12 from 4th to 7th grade for one of our children and I though it was quite good overall. To find out if there is a K12 virtual in your state, you can go to the www.K12.com and locate the current virtuals (Arkansas, Ohio, Colorado, California, Idaho, and Florida are some of the states with virtuals).

Some of the states will have open enrolment (Ohio I think is one). You just sign up for it and you are in. Others have more applicants than their enrolment caps will allow, so it goes to lottery for openings (Arkansas does this).

You can learn more about the program by joining in at the K12users Yahoo group. This group is a busy forum of both virtual families and traditional homeschool families using the curriculum.
