What are the different costs for the gender on a kitten?

What do kittens need? (shots and how many do you give them, at what ages)

I basically want to know everything you need to do to keep a kitten at your house and the costs of it?

  1. to live they will be the same price male and female cats youll need toys 15 if your cheap

declawed 75 unless you live without carpet or furniture

spade or neutered 50 unless you want them to spray

flea and tic collars 6 unless you keep them in a box there whole life

food 6 for two weeks of food

bowls 12 for food and water storage

litter 12 unless your cheap and if so it will suck cleaning it out the self scoops are actually more of a mess then doing it yourself

the endless money and eventually care of the cats you will burden your parents with when you get bored of them PRICELESS

  2. Both male and female cats cost the same. To know about the shots cats need, go to:

    http://www.hdw-inc.com/newkitten.htm

If that doesn't work, go to Google, type in how to care for bengal cats and click on Bengal Breeder Foothil Felines.

(Yes, I know it says Bengal cats, but it tells you about all of them)

  3. Any animal isn't cheap, period.  But, if you look into getting a kitten spayed or neutered a male is a lot cheaper to neuter.  The cost of shots will depend on your location and different vets.  Many vets call for an office fee, which can range depending on where you live as well.  I'm sure if you do some research there are probably some low-cost clinics in your area that offer shots at a cheap price without the office visit fee.  I would also ask around with friends and family members that own pets and get recommendations on vets so you can find a vet that it is in it for the animal and NOT just for the income.  Once they are 8 weeks old that is when they are ready for their shots (when they are weened off their mother)... of course, you'll need your typical rabies shot, get them tested for Feline Leukemia and Feline AIDS.  Don't forget about a litter box and litter (Shweet Scoop I have found works the best and doesn't leave off a horrible smell and scoops fine.  It's 100% wheat.)  Make sure to keep them on a good diet (Innova Evo, Purina, Science Diet, Taste of the Wild, etc.) and do NOT feed them Fancy Feast can food unless you want to deal with cleaning up constant puke and even possible stomach and kidney failure problems.  If you adopt from the pound their prices range anywhere from $20-$100 and usually include your spay/neuter, rabies, testing, etc. all in that one price and you'll also have the satisfaction of knowing you helped save a life!!   Good luck :)

  4. male, but if you get one please get them fixed there is already enough stray homelesss cats in the world, it would be better if you went and adopted one from a shelter!

  5. The only difference in genders is when you get them neutered or spayed.  Usually it's cheaper to have a male neutered than it is to have a female spayed. But other than that, the vet bills will be the same.  And the vet bills are what will take up the most money.  Food, litter, litter box and toys can be obtained relatively cheaply (at Walmart, Petsmart or other discount places).  With a kitten, they need vaccines on a regular schedule, deworming and regular check ups so vet bills can add up.  Once they hit one year of age though, rabies shots and routine vaccines happen only every two years or so, so the costs go down considerably.

  6. The only difference in cost is that usually neuter surgery (for males) is a few dollars cheaper than spay (for female).  You should be able to buy everything you need as far as care for about $50-75. Bowls, food, brush, scratch post, litter box, litter and maybe a few toys is all you really need.  As for vet care, different vets charge different prices so you can call around and see what prices are.  My vet charges:

    Worming- $15

    Shots- $22

Flea treatment- $14 for one dose of Advantage or $42 for 3 months

    Rabies- $10

    FIV/FeLV test- $30

    Ear mite treatment- $12

    Spay- $40

    Neuter- $35

Monthly cost for food will be about $25 for premium kitten food and about $12 a month for litter.

  7. If you are getting your kitten from the Animal Shelter, they will have

prices on them already. If it is not spayed or neutered already, you

will have to have that done. Prices of veterinary fees vary from place to place.

Call a local vet and ask what needs to be done for a new cat and what the cost is. That's the only way to get a good idea. After you get

your kitten, make sure to take it to the vet.

Do some research online to find out the laws in your area regarding cats and what shots are required. It is usually better (in my opinion) to get an older cat (1 to 2 yrs) that has already been altered. You can tell his/her temperament better when it is older.

The easiest way is to buy your cat from the Humane Society. They are checked for fleas and disease and given shots and neutered before they are put up for adoption. The fee to adopt includes some of those

    services.
