What is cheapest way to capture audio during weddings?

im shooting a friends wedding 2 months from now and i have the camcorder but im worried about the audio because i might miss some important part during the program, especially the vows, readings and the like. hope i get an answer to this. :D

  1. If your camcorder has a mic in jack, see if the pastor/priest whatever is willing to wear a wireless clip-on mic. Audio Technica Pro88-R35 is about as cheap (with decent quality) as they get.

    If your camcorder does not have a mic-in jack, then check out a "field recorder" like those from Zoom, M-Audio, Sony, Marantz, or Edirol. Put the field recorder up near the audio. Transfer that audio to the video when you edit. You *could* use a clip-on mic connected to the field recorder - or place it on a nearby table or on the floor - but be sure it is close enough to pick up the audio.

    PRACTICE using the equipment BEFORE the big day so you are confident that everything works.
