  1. Usually chemo treatments are given in a hospital.  Before treatments begin they will take your blood and see if you have a good count of white blood cells.

    Then you will see your Oncologists nurse and your weight will be taken along with your blood pressure.  Your Oncologist from that information ,  will prescribe your chemo treatment.  

    My wife then goes to that section of the hospital where chemotherapy is given.  

    They take her in back and offer her food, usually sandwiches,fruit, and cookie.  As she is eating this they give her through an IV (bags of stuff) including an injection of the chemo itself.  The first is to make her more comfortable and relaxed.  The second is anti nausea, and she then gets an injection of the chemo drug, followed by a bag of fluids.

    Two nurses confirm her identification including her date of birth.  Usually I check to make sure that the proper amount of chemo is prescribed.  (I know her usual dosage).

    Then she goes home.
