  2. Something like Pavlov's dog.

    Pavlov had a dog and everytime the dog's food was ready, Pavlov would ring a bell.

    He continued to do so until the dog associated and automatically thought the ringing of the bell meant he was going to be fed - so he would salivate, even when there was no food for him. He was conditioned for this reaction to happen. This is classical conditioning.

  3. Teaching a response to a neutral stimulus through a series of rewards.  Most well known are Pavlov's dogs, who were taught to salivate at the ring of a bell.
