What is clubbing seals?

They use a club that looks like a hammer on one side and a ice pick on the other.  The hammer side is used to kill the animal.  It is generally considered the quickest and most humane way to do it (?), and it benefits the hunter, as the pelt is not damaged other than in the head area.

They use a big piece of wood to smash in the skull of baby seals that are around 3-6 months old... sometimes younger. They then put a hook through it's neck, and drag it along the ice, then skin them... even if they aren't completely dead, they will skin them alive.

EDIT: oh, i forgot to mention that they only do this to take their skin and turn them into coats for fashion... then they leave the dead (or dying) baby seal on the ice without any skin.

Clubbing seals is a means of satisfying the fashion industry and to make clubbers who skin these animals wealthy at the suffering of baby seals.

The seals are hit in the head with a club in front of its mother leaving bloody trails when they drag the baby off to rip its skin from its body... whether the baby seal is dead or alive.  The seal is left on the ice to suffer in pain until it dies if it survived being skinned alive and for the mother seal to mourn.

Many other kinds of wildlife suffer the same kind of torture for their skins.  You can help stop this horrendous torture to these animals by not purchasing fur - for gloves, hats, scarves, purses, coats, etc.

Well, yeah...  They use a wooden club with a metal tip, and they club the seal in the head for its fur and meat.  

While I am all for people eating animals, I think they could find a less brutal way to do this.
