  1. there is no true reason of colic.. they use it to describe a baby that cries  A LOT and that is not consolable no matter what you do. Typically its seen in babies that have excess gas. I do not believe that a fever or clammy is a symptom of colic.. I know its a lot of crying..

  2. Infant colic (also known as baby colic, three month colic, and Infantile colic) is a condition in which an otherwise healthy baby cries or screams frequently and for extended periods without any discernible reason.

The condition typically appears within the first two weeks of life and almost invariably disappears, often very suddenly, before the baby is three to four months old.[1] It is more common in bottle-fed babies, but also occurs in breast-fed infants. The crying frequently occurs during a specific period of the day, often in the early evening

Thats the medical definition. my daughter who is now 7 had colic when she was an infant. i remember it as inconsolable crying that went on hour after hour and nothing that i did could help her. they said its usually from gas pains...and its more common in bottle fed babies. they switched her formula  over and over again until we got to some nasty stuff called nutramagin. id say the crying lasted about 3 months. well the non stop crying. shes never really stopped crying till this day. it doesnt sound like hes got colic...u should maybe check into the formula it may not be agreeing with his stomach.  colic usually goes on for hourssss and u say that you are eventually able to calm him down.  i would go to the pediatrician and tell them about ur concerns cause to me it sounds like its a problem with his formula.

  3. no, baby just want change

  4. It may be colic if he cries excessively over several days. It could be any time of day but it usually gets worse in the late afternoon and evening. Colic usually appears in the first few weeks after birth and the cause isn't known. It generally lasts for three to four months.

Although colic isn't thought to be due to pain, he may look uncomfortable or appear to be in pain. Babies may lift their head, draw their legs up to their tummy, become red in the face and pass wind.

If wind does seem to be the problem you can get colic drops from your health professional and that may ease it.

To be honest though my daughter has colic and you kinda know for sure that they have it because it is very, very frustrating and usually they take a long time to be consoled.

    I hope this helps

  5. It doesn't sound like colic.  Colic is just a term (not a medical diagnoses) used for unexplained crying.  Typically, if you dig deeper, you can find the reason for crying (gas, reflux, malaligned spine- they get all crunched up in the womb).

It sounds to me like you have a normal baby.  He cries in his car seat because he doesn't want to be in there and he stops crying when you hold him because he wants to be held (and he should be held...he's a baby, he needs physical contact to thrive).  He gets pissed when he's hungry because he's hungry.  I don't know about you, but I tend to get a little on edge when I'm hungry...so it's understandable for a baby to get pissed because they can't get up and make lunch themselves.

I'm sorry, I didn't mean to come across rudely.  My sincerest apologies.  You asked if it was colic and I said that I didn't think it was & that he was acting like a normal baby.

  6. my baby who is now 11 months had colic for the first 6 months...he still cries or more like cranky and whimpers alot but i think after 6 months they dont call it colic anymore...anyways my baby began non stop nonconsolable crying from the 2nd day of life and it was soo tiring.  he would cry and cry and we tried everything.. when i picked him up and rocked him for awhile then he would fall asleep and the minute or two after i put him down he would wake up screaming and crying again...it was so wierd..he was a horrible sleeper and still is---he wakes up every 2-3 hours... and during the day be barrely slept at all...maybe a 30 min nap.  i tried everythign, gas meds, changing formula and nothing helped...i had to deal with it for so long and he is so used to being rocked that now when he is tired and sleepy he will cry and cry until some one picks him up and rocks him to sleep.  this is an 11 month baby weighing 25 lbs---it gets tiring walking around with him..

  7. he could have a stomach ache or is gasy because colic babies usally has one point in the day that they sit there a scream for no apparent reason and does not stop usually for a couple of hours does he pull his feet to his stomach if so he is constipated!!!!
