  1. Is this a LOMO or other toy camera?

    Is it a digital camera?

Unless you tell us the name and model of the camera, we can only guess what that means

There is no color filter in photography ... lenses focus all the colours of light.  There are filters that are different colours used when shooting black and white film, but my guess is you are not doing that.

Look on http://www.depreview.com and see if you can find your camera listed there.  If not you may want to reconsider your choice, unless you are buying a film camera

  2. This is a special effect that is applied during *playback* and not to the image at the time you took the photo.

When viewing an image on the screen, color filter will allow you to apply a color filter to that image.  It will then save the altered image in a new file name, so the original isn't altered.

Thus, you can take a color photo and make it black and white later.  Or Sepia later.  Or red, green, or blue toned.  Those are the effects listed in the manual for color filter.

You can learn about the L100 here:

  3. Basically, the color filter casts a certain color on the photo.
