  1. chocolate, crisps and chips though not all at once...

  2. Comfort Food can have two meanings.  There is the food that reminds you of your mum's home cooking and their is the food that you binge on when you feel depressed.

I would disagree with the above answers.  Whilst Black Pudding, and Jellied Eels are good examples of tradditional British food, they are not generally considered comfort food and are an aquired taste that few people I know would consider eating.  (the pudding maybe with a fry up but the eels, virtually no one would try)

A Roast Beef Sunday lunch, Fish and Chips, and Toad in the hole could be considered comfort food in the way that they are also considered to be home cooked classics and remind people of the food they ate as a child.  I would also add other "rib sticking" food such as Hot pots, Shepherd Pie, Pies and Pasties, and Steamed Puddings to this list.

In general as far as food that is eaten for comfort when feeling depressed, the British tend to eat the same junk as Americans.  If it's tasty and fatty, people eat it when they comfort eat.  So add Chips (fries), Pizza, Kebabs, Crisps (chips), Burgers, Ice Cream, Cake, Biscuits (cookies) to the list.

  3. Fish & chips, toad in the hole, bubble and squeak, jellied eels, roast beef and yorkshire pudding, & black pudding.

  4. Ooh, stew and dumplings, macaroni cheese, syrup sponge pudding, bread and butter pudding, shepherd's pie .. could go on, love to comfort-eat!

  5. French fries, or simply French anything.

  6. For me,chocolate,crisps- usually pringles, sticky toffee pudding and custard, crispy bacon sandwich with hp brown sauce, and ofcourse the great british fish and chips.o dear just gave myself the munchies now :-)

  7. Fish & Chips
