  1. Expensive is relative.

Berkshire Hathaway    BRK/A is over 100,000 per share

    Google                        GOOG is over 500

The absolutr price of a stock means nothing.  Price to earnings ratio is critical to determining value.

  2. To consider whether or not a price is expensive, you have to first know how the company is doing, and in order to gauge how the company is doing, you need to look at their financial statements that can be found on their website under "investor relations" or something similar.

The first step when looking for a cheap/UNDERVALUED company is to do fundemantal analysis:

Fundemantal analysis basically helps you find companies with a HEALTHY financial record (high earnings, paying off debt, liquidity, ect) and that are currently undervalued and under priced by other investors.

You are expecting that their financial statements are healthy enough to increase their current low price and make future earnings.

    Good luck!

  3. Stocks can be anywhere from a couple pennys to 90,000 dollars per share. I dont know what you mean by "what kind of stock is $200"....any kind of stock can be $200. I buy stocks in the $8-$17 range because they fluctuate more and are easier to make a quick profit on. I trade with about $8,000 a day. No matter what kind of investing you are looking to do, I recommend you dont buy penny stocks. They are way too risky and penny stocks are usually companies that are not very dependable or just starting out.
