What is compatibility of tv?.?

In my own point of view i defined compatibility of tv as an ability for both white and coloured tv to receive thesame signal at receiving end.I NEED MORE ENLIGHTMENTPLEEEEEEEEEESE.

  1. Actually, it's not the TV that has the compatility for B&W and color, it's the TV signal that does that.

    Capabilities of televisions range from:

    resolution

    contrast level/brightness

    Number of channels received

    Number of Inputs

    Screen size

    widescreen or not

    Number of speakers (stereo/surround/mono) and output power

    etc..


  2. Compatability may refer to the broadcast standard, and the TV's ability to receive a standard.

    The North American standard (and Japanese) is NTSC.  The PAL (widely used) and SECAM Less widely used, but mostly PAL-compatible) standards are used everywhere else.

    Your NTSC TV won't be able to watch a PAL/SECAM broadcast, and vice-versa.
