If the person coming to visit the US is financially solvent, it is less likely that the person will try to remain, illegally, in the US, after the expiration of the permitted period of stay.  All people applying for a B1/B2 non-immigrant visa must overcome the presumption that they are intending immigrants.  This is most often accomplished by showing strong family, social and professional ties to the home country, as well as ownership of real estate and financial solvency.
