  1. Actually, in Scrabble tournaments it is very difficult to win with a 300.  Most tournament players find in a personal defeat to score fewer than 200 in any game!  350 is more reasonable as a winning score, but it is common for those players to score 400-500 games in tournaments.  The record is around 770!

What a good score is really depends on the player and is competition, as well as the luck of the draw.

I have been play for almost 20 years, and have not reached 600, ever!

In a two-player game. 300 or more is a reasonable expectation.  If more people are playing, 250 is reasonable.

  2. One point more than your opponent! Seriously, three-hundred point games are common winning scores in Scrabble tournaments. All of those games are two-player. 253 is a healthy score, though!

  3. My daughter and I play a lot of Scrabble, and when we play each other our combined scores are usually around 700.  I have often had a score of over 400, and so has she.  I once scored almost 300 points in one turn - that was a one time event!!  I played the word "quizzed" (with one blank tile) in the bottom left corner and got two triple word scores and one z was on a double letter score, and the d joined to another word already on the board.  A score of 253 is an average score, and a respectable score for someone who is a relatively novice scrabble player.  Here is a link that may interest you.
