What is considered a hostile work enviroment and can you sue over it ?

i work in central nj there is a higher up that is a bully mean calls people stupid yells screams etc and even though it is a trucking company it makes impossible to do a job well - regardles stupid f### ing idoit no matter what you do around him

  1. From my understanding, and I could be wrong, a hostile work environment has to do with sexual harassment.


  2. Why is this nation becoming so sue happy? What would be the grounds? Taking someone to court because he raises his voice and calls people stupid is only going to make you look ridiculous.  How much money did you expect to get anyway?

    Pick a time when there's no tension and quietly and calmly with no attitude or foul language tell him he's making it difficult for you to work. and to please stop or at the very least do it in private. After the meeting make a note of what was said on both sides. If it happens again, once again calmly and quietly tell him you can't perform the job well when he's screaming. Once again privately document it. The third time, request a meeting with his supervisor and show him your notes.


  3. You do not have to listen to that. It is illegal. You do have to have witnesses though. If you can acquire them, you can bring him up on charges before the labor board. The only way you could sue is if his actions caused you impairment.
