  1. For an adult, anything over 4 grams a day is technically an overdose, and risks chronic toxicity if taken over a long period of time. But acute toxicity does not occur below a level of 150 mg/kg body weight, which would be 18 extra-strength (500 mg) pills for a woman weighing 130 pounds.
