What is the actual dosage amount of adderall that should be given to a small child, age 4 or 5?

I am also not asking for rude comments or people saying that a child shouldn't be on adderall. It is just a question about dosage amounts because I can't seem to find out in an engine search. Thanks!

  1. The kid's pediatrician should have put the dosage on the bottle! If you just decided on your own that your kid needs prescription meds and are giving them to them, you're actually breaking a federal law.

  2. Is it approved for a young child? Only a doctor would be able to tell you since it depends on the child's weight and height.

  3. Call your child's doctor.  They should have given you the dosage when the gave you the medication.  I don't think you should be trusting random people on yahoo answers over your child's doctor.

  4. A lot of dosage depends on the child's weight more than their age. And this is really a question for a doctor or pharmacist. Have you tried looking on the Adderall website, almost every drug has its own website.

  5. The Psychologist should know the proper dosage.

If you are getting from a Primary care, switch now!

Primary Care Drs.  Give these out like M & Ms without a real diagnoses.

My son was Misdiagosed until 6th grade, from K-6 he did OK in school but failed alot of classes on and off. Ritalin, Adderall and none of it worked for long, why, because he really wasn't ADHD he was Bipolar, and those drugs make it worse.

I took him to the Pshcy, because it wasn't really working and I was sick of yelling at him all the time, they wanted to retain him in school. all those years and a simple medication change by a qualified professional, what a difference it made, he is now a father of 3! and has a good job!
