If I go to a buffet and keep serving myself until I'm satisfied, is that one outing to the buffet considered one meal or maybe is considered more than one assuming that I became satisfied after three dishes I served myself. I hope I didn't confused you and thank you for taking the time to answer my question.

  1. Three dishes is probably more than one. But if you go to a buffet you shouldn't be worried about that. A buffet is for gettin fat.

  2. I would say its three meals since your eatin 3 full dishes

  3. Unless you are staying and eating for several hours.....one meal

I consider it one meal if you eat until satisfied.  I often have many courses/dishes that make up a meal.

For example: A soup, a salad, a chicken breast, a baked potato, and a piece of cake would all be various courses of one meal.  Each dish is not (generally) a meal in and of itself.

  4. it's still one meal, you just had multiple courses during the meal

  5. A meal is whatever you eat at one sitting.

Stay away from buffets!  Most people cannot control themselves and wind up eating 3 times the calories they need or more!

  6. a meal is usually a serving size of 1 starch, 1 veg, and 1 meat.  an average serving size is the size of your fisted hand.

therefore one meal should be able to fit on one average plate.

  7. 3 dishes are three meals. It's all about portion sizes.

  8. If there is a restriction, it may mean "one trip" through the line.  Most buffet's are "all you can eat" but I've seen some where they put restrictions.

  9. 1 meal is one sitting - if you have seconds or thirdsies its still the same meal.  If you get up leave the restaurant and come back and hour later you are having another meal.

  10. Typically, one meal refers to whatever amount you eat in one sitting. However, large buffet meals are generally much larger than a typical "meal," so you obviously shouldn't indulge in many large "one meals" in a given week or month. Hope that helps.  =]

  11. If you are eating the equivalent of 3 meals worth of food then it is still 3 meals.  The timing does not affect the definition of "meal".

  12. a meal is anything you wat in one sitting. now one plate is one SERVING. you just ate multiple servings in one meal

  13. Things you eat in one sitting.

  14. each dish = 1 meal

  15. Hmm, good question. Depends on how you look at it. I myself, eat until I'm bloated, and that satisfies me, knowing I'm way more then full, and have gotten my money worth. You don't have to eat until your full to feel satified, just eat a little of this and that, and thats what the buffet should be, not what I do. If your trying to pack on calories, then eat more, and that satifies some people.  Bottom line you kinda of answered your question for yourself, by stating you satified yourself after 3 portions, that in itself makes a meal, becoming full like me, is easily 2 meals.

  16. I think its one Meal..

  17. It depends on how you want to look at it.

In my opinion a meal is one plate of food and if you need two or three plates of food to become full you may be over eating.

If you want a variety of foods then take smaller portions of them

  18. Most people overeat at a buffet (which is why I avoid them).  It's one meal, but it's one meal that you might regret if you start getting wider than you are tall.
