  1. you're misinformed about homeschooling in California. Alarmist organizations are just using fear to manipulate their members and create a perception of increased need for the services they claim to provide.

  2. Credentials means to have the education to be able to teach your child(ren) at home00therefore, the judge in CA has stated that the parents must have teaching credentials--things like a Bachelor of Arts Degree, etc.

To show that they are "smart" enough to home school the children.

This being a law against home schooling is currently happening in Germany. There was even a child removed from the parent's home because she was being home schooled. I believe she was returned to her parent's home though.

I was watching "700 Club" the other day and this "law" was being discussed. Apparently in the forefathers of this country's time, home schooling was something that occurred, regularly.

As far as I know, if the church has a home schooling program, and has certified teachers to help with the home schooling program, I don't think it would be illegal. Actually, an attorney like from ACLJ (Christian lawyers) could answer that question. Or probably;y any attorney.

Right now, CA is the only place in this country not to be for home schooling, due to the judge that came up with this decision.

    Take care.

  3. First of all, homeschooling is not and will not be illegal in Ca. Please read http://www.hsc.org/Appellatedecision

Credential teaching means that the adult has a certificate from the state of California proving that they've passed a test and are capable of teaching.

  4. Home schooling is not going to become illegal in California. It might be the case that home schooling parents may be required in the future to have certified teacher training. That's what "credentials" mean in this context.

EDIT: By the way, this is one of your previous questions:

Can i get my GED and get emancipated at 15?

...so let's not crow too loudly about the glories of your educational background.

  5. credential means to be certified by the state

  6. It could mean a lot of different things:

It could mean that the person teaching has to have attended a college and has a teaching license for that state.

It could mean that the person teaching has to pass a test about the subjects to show that he/she is knowledgeable in the material.

It could mean that the person may have to use a curriculum where licensed teachers are available.  The parent supervises the work, but the teacher is the one who actually decides the lessons to be taught, grades work and determines progress.

The idea is to have people teaching others who have some college.  If you compare today's high school classes to classes 20 years ago, you would find that many of the classes being taught now on the high school level are the same material that was taught in a lower level college class then.  I am amazed at the material that 3rd and 4th graders are expected to know now.  They are expected to know material that originally was junior high or even high school level then.   For that reason, teachers are expected to take college classes on a regular basis so that they stay on top of the knowledge.

  7. you cannot spell.........please do not get home schooled

  8. Homeschooling is not illegal in California.  Your program would be perfectly legal.

To get a teaching credential, a student goes to an extra year of college, learns some theories about how to control groups of students, does some classroom observation and a year or so of student teaching, and passes a few tests.

None of which make a good teacher.  Funny, isn't is?

  9. The judge massively over reached and what he said won't stand. Either his comments will be overturned (likely and the best result) or the Gov of CA is going to change the law to ensure that HS remains legal (risky because who knows what the new law might say).

It sounds like the program you are part of would be able to register as a private school and be legal in CA.
