What is costa rica known for?

I'm doing this for homework and i don't know what costa rica is know for like a famous person, music, dance, a landmark, sports, something they produce or grow or even animals please answer

  4. It depends on where you are in Costa Rica. Some areas are known for their pineapple and bananas, others for fishing and sea food. Some mountainous regions are covered with dairies, and others are well know for their tourist towns.  

  5. tourists would say: lovely and nice people. also the rainforest and lots of protected areas (national parks). the now president has won a nobel price. in soccer they have participated in the world cup several times already. it is the national sport.

    costa rica is mainly known as a very peaceful country (no army) and its nature (beaches, rainforest, volcanoes, etc)

    coffee and chiquita bananas are exported all over the world

  6. Costa Rica is well known for being home of a great variety of plants and animals. Even when it is a small country it has 5% of the world's biodiversity and more than 20% of our land is protected in national parks that include beautiful beaches, majestic volcanoes and of course the rainforest.

    Costa Rica is also one of the best coffee producers around the world. Big companies like Dunkin Donuts or Starbucks import coffee from Costa Rica.

    What else can I tell you?? Costa Rica was the first country that abolish its army and we are very proud of it!  In fact, our current president won Nobel prize several years ago.  

    I have to mention Franklin Chang, he was the first Costa Rican and latin american astronaut to travel in space. He completed 7 missions in space and now he has his own company in Costa Rica where he specializes in plasma rockets.

    In Costa Rica people are usually very friendly and outgoing, especially with tourists. There is also a very popular expression called "pura vida". Literal translation would be "pure life" but for us means being fine.  If I ask somebody "como estas?"  I will get a "pura vida" as an answer.

    Costa Rican people are also known as Ticos.

  7. Well its known for the cloud Forrest's that it has. It has more than 100 species of mammals including 5 species of cats, over 400 species of birds including 30 kinds of hummingbirds, tens of thousands of insect species (over 5000 species of moths) and 2,500 species of plants (420 kinds of orchids).

    Its also known for its good surf, beautiful beaches, the Caribbean Sea on one side and the Pacific Ocean on the other, also its volcanoes.

    Its also known for the export of fruits like bananas, its where Chiquita Bananas is located and its also known for its big coffee plantations and coffee exportation.

    They call it the country of peace because it was the first country in the world to get rid of its military, it has no military, they declared peace with the whole world in the early 50´s and use the money they would use on military for education.

    They are not too famous for their music but their tipical music is Marimba.

    They are also known for having the best soccer of central america.
