To Crack a file you decrypt the Password on the file if it has one. Or if you mean a "cracked" version of a program someone has edited the Config File so that you don't have to enter any type of Identification Key.

Crack is the piece of software or secret code to unlock the paid software.  Usually software is costly but everyone want to use them for nothing.  So people make cracks and distribute it freelly.  But Please do not use the crack software because it may contain dengeours virus or hacking tool which can steal information from your system.

Software company spends millions of dollers and time to research new software.  To protect it from illegal copy they protect it with some security system like licence keys, activation etc.  Cracking is the process to find out the bypass this security and break it.  It is a small program or code.

Now a days many alternative software for each application called open source software available with all usable functionality.  Use it freely or with minimum expenses and use the computer safely.
