  1. there are THOUSANDS of ships out there too big for Panama....designed for routes that would not need the Canal......oil form the Mideast to USA/Europe, freight from Far Eat to USA.....

Konck Nevis is technically correct, but she hasn't been a ship for 20 years....engines taken out and is a floating storage tank in the Persian Gulf

biggest moving thing is Emma Maersk and her sisters (length)

    Nimitz class carriers ( weight)

interior volume ( Genesis class Cruise ships)

  2. The larger and largest ones are called yachts or ships.

  3. I believe its the Emma Mærsk. Hold something 13k units and her engine puts out over 100k bhp. Massive!

  4. QE2

  5. Assuming you mean the largest "vessel" afloat... the answer to your question is:

    The "Knock Nevis" ...

She is the Norwegian owned supertanker, formerly known as Seawise Giant, Happy Giant, and Jahre Viking. (her name has been changed with each of her owners)

She is 1,504 feet in length and 226 ft in width.

This makes her the largest ship in the world.

The Emma Maersk is fourth largest at 1,302 ft.

The USS Nimitz is 1,092 ft.

and the QE2 by the way is only 963 ft.

    Furthermore... just for your information:

The "Knock Nevis" is in fact so large, she is the only vessel afloat that is too large to pass through the Panama Canal... Obviously, this was quite an embarrasment to her designer... who has since slipped silently into exile somewhere.  Thus "Knock Nevis" crew has since been harrased at sea - being constantly reminded that "bigger is not always better".

  6. Not enough info. There is a big difference between a boat and a ship.
