  1. What are the chances of anyone here knowing that?

  2. Bit run down with shops closing and not re-opening. Traffic is pretty horrendous in mornings and evenings.  Plenty of stores and supermarkets within walking distance. Good public transport for getting into the centre of town. There are some good sized flats in the area and a lot of redevelopment going on.

  3. Dalry Road stretches from Haymarket Railway Station to the junction with Gorgie Road, about 2/3 of a mile East to West.

It's fairly central (five minutes walk from Princes Street from its East End and many bus routes run along it), and being city centre in nature its proximity to either Tynecastle Football Ground or Murrayfield Rugby Stadium (which isnt that close anyway) is irrelevant to living there.

Like all areas 'on the edge' of the City Centre it has seen better days, specialist shops are mixed in with charity shops, and a few empty units.

Presumably you are looking at a flat as there are no houses, but there are a couple of nice developments just off it with very nice new flats, equally a couple of side streets have a very neglected council estate feel to them.

A passage near its middle takes you under the Western Approach Road to Fountain Park with its cinema, restaurants, health club etc. and into a huge investment and rejuvenating area which is bound to 'spill' onto Dalry to some extent in the next few years.

In essence its an urban environment, very well-positioned for a city centre lifestyle if that's what you want, and includes some good accommodation just off it though the road itself is 'flats above shops' mostly - its not green, its not suburban, its not 'up and coming' and you wont be living next to any celebs!

  4. Probably quite busy nowadays, but where isn't in Edinburgh (or anywhere else!). Plenty shops in the area and only about half an hour walk from city centre. Plus, the buses are OK as well.

Would likely be quite busy on match days, though, since Tynecastle is just round the corner, although it may not be as busy as Gorgie, just along the road. Plus, Murrayfield is fairly close by, so may get busier when there is something on there.

I can think of a few worse places in Edinburgh to live!

  5. OK, I suppose. It's not the best area in Edinburgh, but is far from the worst. It's easily walkable to the centre for the slightly fit and there are plenty of buses.

The whole Gorgy/Dalry area always came across as slightly grimy and it's a bit close to Tynecastle {Hearts's ground}, but there's nothing really wrong with the area as far as I know.

  6. Not bad but if you can stretch to it, get a house there.

  7. I think you would be better living in a House, rather than the Road,

  8. dalry is ok,i lived there 22 years ago,it was quite fun(student flat lol)theres a good mix of people in are and handy for shops etc,and close enough to walk into town centre

  9. Full of one bedroom flats. Students, special needs, eastern europeans & unemployed now make up the majority of residents. It used to be a nice enough area but has gone downhill recently. I used to stay at the West End but moved to a much nicer area & don't miss it at all.
