After becoming a parent what silly thing have you discovered to be suprisingly dangerous? I had to pull over on the freeway because my son tied his finger multiple times around a loose thread from his shoe :)

  1. You will find out there are so many different things out there. Here is a web site to help you along.

You will learn as you go along. As you know your child and if they are a climber, a runner, a hitter... and the list goes on.

A good rule of thumb. For small children anything that can fit through a toilet paper roll is too small for them to play with and can cause a choking hazard. No long cords, string or ties that they can wrap around their necks.

    Keeping chemicals out of reach.

One of the fun things is to get down on the ground or to your child's eye level and crawl around or look around your house and see what they see. Give you an idea of what can be a problem. Good luck!

  2. I have a towel that sits on my entertainment center, where I keep her bottles and powder milk, diapers etc.  She pulled the towel down and everything fell on the floor, it was not funny but silly because she thought she really did something cool and started laughing.  She was trying to pull the towel down for a couple of weeks now.  Luckly the entertainment center is not so big and large and is only 3 inches high.

  3. Child size chairs.  As soon as a little one grabs at the back (expecting it to support them) the darn things flips over - toppling both the child and chair.  Who knew that the smaller, size appropriate chair could be so dangerous?
