  1. Defensive driving is simply opposed to offensive or rash driving.

Defensive driving refers to safe driving.

Defensive driving is wedded to cool head, constant speed (which will give u additional mileage instead of using ur car as a speeding machine) and constant attention to avoiding road accidents.

    Take this situation, for instance.

U're trying to reach ur destination at the earliest possible time. But then, the person  driving in front is maneuvering the highway in such a way as if it belongs to his father. What do u do then?

U can simply keep on honking! But, he/she is oblivious of ur presence. To make matters worse, he is speaking on his mobile (which, mind u is against the law of the road) and is cosily enconched within his AC car with the windows drawn.

This is really a testing time for ur patience & ur driving skills.

This is what u should do according to the norms set by the 'Defensive' driving rules.

Keep on honking and also turn on ur headlights so that the person can at least see the lights in his rear view glass.

What if that person doesn't yield or give u the go-by signal.

In such an instance, turn off the headlight and take to the signal emergency signals for securing the pass!

The honking horn combined with the blinking signal lights will ultimately force or compel the 'stupid' person concerned to give u the leeway!

But, it won't pay to utter slangs, blow off ur handle and shpw obscene signals!

Remember, defensive driving is all about reaching ur destination safe and sound and with the peace of mind intact.

There's someone somewhere waiting for u.

So, 'Safe  Driving' or for that matter 'Defensive Driving' (which are synonymous terms) cannot happen when 'U mix driving with drinking', or when 'U talk over the mobile while driving' or for that matter when 'U drive with ur temper & NOT with UR MIND & HEART'!

Just ponder over this point: The road is a public property and   not a stage to monopolise!

Keep smiling & Safe driving! This is 'Defensive driving' in short!

    Adios Amigos!

  5. Defensive driving is a course where simple principles in driving will be taught which can greatly reduce chances of accidents. There are so many points that you do not give attention to when you drive. A safe distance has to be kept from the vehicle in front of you. How you should approach a junction, how you should start from a signal. What to expect from other drivers and be in a safe distance from other vehicles so that even if they make a mistake you have enough time to react. It is a two or three day course where many scinarios will be discussed and how to be in a safe position to act in time. Yahoo take "defencive" as correct spelling.
