  2. Question No. = 1 ) what is defination food ?

    Answer =Food can be defined as “ Any Organic Molecule that can provide a living organism with

    Metabolites AS WELL AS  Metabolic Energy ”

    Metabolites = chemical elements that are essential for metabolic activity in the body

    Examples = C  , H , N , Mg  , O  etc.

    Metabolic energy = Example  ATP

    Now let us examine this definition with some examples =

    1 ) Sodium Chloride ( NaCl  ) can provide metabolites  Na  and Cl ; but it can not

    provide metabolic energy . So ordinary Table Salt ( NaCl ) cannot be food .

    2 ) Water ( H2O ) . Like the example above it can provide with the metabolites

    Hydrogen and Oxygen.

    But water cannot be a source Metabolic Energy . So Water can not be  Food.

    No matter how important for life !!!

    3 ) Glucose  ( C6 H12  O6 ) . It is most certainly FOOD , as it gives metabolites in the form of

    C , H , AND O . And it is a well known fact that it is a source of ATP !!!

    4 ) Milk =  Like glucose it is also food , but in liquid form.

    Question No.=2) what is defination protien?

    Answer =A protein molecule is an organic molecule made up of   Carbon ( C ) ; Hydrogen ( H )

    Oxygen (O) and Nitrogen (N) atoms.

    No protein can exist with out ANY one of the four mentioned above .

    Thus , these are the constant and  integral part of every protein molecule .

    The quantity of each one of them is different in different proteins >

    In addition , a number  of metal and non-metal atoms are associated with proteins to give them

    Specificity.

    For example = Chlorophyll is a protein molecule with formula  C55  H72  O5  N4  Mg  !

    Thus Mg ( Magnesium ) is associated with it !

    Blood Haemoglobin is also a protein and Fe ( Iron )  is associated with it !!

    In Invertebrates Haemoglobin is replaced by Haemocyanin and  Fe ( Iron ) is replaced by copper ( Cu )

    In Onion and Garlic Sulfur ( S ) is associated with certain proteins that imparts strong smell to them !!

    From = A Botanist
