The removal of trees from any forest or stand of trees. Deforestation in some instances are good, as long as the trees are replanted. Old forest and rain forest do not need to be cleared.

It is the clearing of forests from areas like the rainforest in Brazil to provide wood for the consumer industry. There are a lot of people including myself who are against this as it is upsetting the balance on our planet and helping towards global warming.
