  1. When the skin can either sense light in general (sensitivity) or do it well enough to make sense of things (perception).

    Humans do not have either quality, although we can sort of fake it with strong enough light because of our dermo-thermal perception (i.e. the warm side of our face is probably the side in the sunlight).  A number of animals, notably those without proper eyes, have the ability to sense light with their skin, though.
