  1. Developmental delay is a term used to say that a child isn't progressing in motor skills the way they should be...

For example, at three months ur baby should be holding his head up on his own, attempting to, if not rolling over, and if they are not doing these things that is known as developmental delay.

  2. mental development delay. things like bedwetting, when children do stuff that should already stop years ago. this doesnt mean mental disability or illness, its when children should catch up with others.

a psychiatrist is one of the doctors that can help kids with these issues. I wish I would have one. punishment didnt help with bedwetting issues.

  3. your child will develop slowly.. developmental can  be anythign from how fast he learns to how fast he puts on weight

  4. meeting milestones more slowly. My son didn't walk until he was 19 months old. His teeth are coming in slower. That type of thing. He is a very smart and normal 9 year old now.

  5. chels, when an infant or child reaches a particular milestone of development (i.e., sitting up, walking, talking in complete sentences, etc.) far later than others his or her age, that's considered a developmental delay.

It's generally regarded as a heads-up for the pediatrician to make sure this child has no physical or neurological problems which might be contributing to any delays.

Some kids just get there later than others, and they're perfectly healthy.

  6. It means that your child is behind at a skill or skills that they should have mastered at that age.   It could be very late in walking or talking or running.   Usually a parent knows when their child has a developmental delay because that is the reason why the child was brought to see the doctor in the first place.   It's hardly a diagnosis.   It's more like stating the obvious.
