What is deviance? is this a negative or positive thing? can u give me an example of it. thanks

It's the title of a book about Ed Gein. My coworker told me about it, but I haven't read it yet.

Deviance is going against the norm. What may normal in one context, may be not be normal in the other. A street fight may be considered unlawful and dangerous. A boxing match is more accepted form of violence where rules play a role to control the behavior.

Something that defies convention. It depends on your own experience whether it is generally positive or negative. Do you agree with every law, rule or guildline that exists? If not, you could be classed as a deviant.
