What is difference beteen uva and uvb lights

UVA stimulates natural behavior and UVB lets the animal synthesize vitamin d3. Only Uvb is is essential. And that is only for certain species.

I can't speak for all reptiles, but I've heard for bearded dragons both are essential. The sun gives off different levels/spectrums of UV rays. UVB is neccisary for vitamin D3 production, and in turn, calcium absorbtion.

However, for nocturnal reptiles, the common belief is that they can go without. Some people are starting to think differently though.
