  1. Tuba:  http://www.philharmonia.co.uk/thesoundex...

    Sousaphone:  http://i.pbase.com/u43/clickaway/large/2...

  2. Tubas are better to listen to while drinking beer.

  3. A tuba is held in the lap while sitting (can be held standing, but very awkward). A sousaphone is a tuba that wraps around the body for marching.

  4. Tuba, as stated before, is the smaller one held in the lap. It's a larger version of the baritone/euphonium. They are more commonly used in orchestras and symphonic bands.

SOUSAphones on the other hand wrap around the body. They're used in marching bands.

  5. The tuba is an older designed instrument used primarily in orchestra or group settings where the musicians didn't have to move around a lot.

John P. Sousa designed the Sousaphone with the marching band in mind. instead of building up a lot of upper body strength to simply carry the instrument, the Sousaphone could be carried (worn) by the smallest of musicians (and due to most directors weird sense of humor, usually is) while on parade.

  6. tuba is the compact one you hold on your lap, suzaphone is the round one you wear around you.
