  1. Porcelain material is made from ceramics but it can be 'engineered' to have specific properties for commercial applications. These properties can include strength and elasticity.

    They are both very similar since they are made of the same base, but aesthetically porcelain is desired because of it's clean white / creme color and it's resonance. The resonance of porcelain and ceramics is very different but both have low permeability and are great insulators.

  3. All I know is that porcelain is a specific type of ceramic material.  Ceramics are characterized by high compression strength, elasticity, low tension strength, high temperature capability, high dielectric K value, high resistivity, and breakdown voltage.  All qualities that porcelain has.
