my to be is from mexico, and he's not familiar with weddings down there in mexico.

his family did not send back the rsvp's (he thinks its due to the way weddings work down there, i think its lazyness)

his family thinks that since they are flying out here, and renting a hotel that it is rude for us to expect a gift!

(or at least this is the impression im under)

ok, why is the impresssion he's giving me is that people from mexico don't rsvp for weddings, just show up if they feel like it without rsvp needed, and gifts aren't important.

we dont expect any gifts, but even if we were out flying for a wedding, i would feel tacky to go to the wedding and not give a card with at least $40-50 from us.

  1. ur over reacting...and the ppl from "THERE" like u seem to mention alot, cuz u know ppl from "there" just r lazy...obvioulsy u know they r coming, ur just whinning about dumb things and a gift, seems like u need to worry about other things, other than RSVP's and gifts...just ask how many ppl r coming, what is it gonna hurt u??....if the family is not from a wealthy background maybe they are not accustomed to that, no "WE" dont RSVP and actually "WE" dont even do that, atleast for my family thats from "THERE" its more of a family get together, big dinner, music, dancing...we are just happy for everyone to b there with us, with or without a gift...but u know, how ppl from "THERE" are.....one thing i forgot to mention, your retarded.

  2. In Mexico, weddings are simpler. There's no such thing as an RSVP. Families get together to celebrate the union between a couple but in the US it's more of a choreographed show intended to impress the guests. As far as gifts go, you're already assuming they're not going to bring any even though the wedding hasnt actually taken place yet. You see, in Mexico brides and grooms expect gifts but they dont demand them like Americans do. It would also be considered rude to discuss them in advance.
