I take Disaster Management at uni.  We look at both developed world and developing world disasters, how best to respond after them etc, but also how to stop them causing so much damage in the first place, eg early warning, raising the capacity and resilience of communities, and business continuity management among others.  We also look at business crises and emergency planning, so you have a rounded knowledge of how organisations and governments work so it all makes sense in context of real places, not just theory.  Once a year we also take a few days out in Wales doing search and rescue, first aid, management techniques, stuff like that.  Its awesome!
