  1. .doc or .docx are formats of microsoft word from microsoft office but the difference is that doc is from microsoft office 2003 while .docx from microsoft office 2007 and it cant be opened by the 2003 one.

That kind of format is text file by the way.

  2. docx is the new Word 2007 document format.

doc is its predecessor from Word2003 and prior.

  3. docx is the file format of microsoft word 2007 while doc is the file format of microsoft word earlier version. i'm not sure what kind of software can convert your file to these two type of files since i don't know what is your original file. hope this helps ^^

  4. .doc is Microsft Word file extension for Office suite 97-03, .docx is the extension for Microsoft Word 2007. You can download a free format converter from Microsoft.com and it will allow you to open .docx files using Word 2003. I dont know what its called off the top of my head but just go to Microsoft.com and search for word converters

  5. docx is a MS word 2007 file format

    doc is word 2003

  6. docx - microsoft word 2007

    doc - microsoft word 1997 - 2003

the docx is unavailable to open with computers that don't have the program. but with doc, you can open it with whatever.

to save the document as doc, when you click 'save' there should be something that says 'format' or something around those lines, just choose document 97-03.
