The Dogo Onsen in Matsuyama, Ehime is one of 3 oldest hot spas in Japan which was actually described in the old textbook called Nihon Shoki(The Chronicles of Japan) issued around 8th century there.

The spa is also famous because the place seemed to be referred to be one of important scenes in the novel, Botchan(story of young teacher stationed to Matsuyama high school from Tokyo) written by Soseki Natsume in 1906.
