  1. Mangu is very popular

    also aroz con handules

Chicarones are eaten often in D.R

  2. I dont know specifically. However Mangú, which mashed sweet ripe plantain is a staple of La Republica Dominicana. I believe is mostly eaten on breakfast. Also being a Caribbean island their cuisine is very close related to that of Puerto Rico and Cuba. Rice and Beans, Starchy Roots are common to their diet.

I'm from Puerto Rico and we have a very large dominican community and pretty much what you find in restaurant located in a dominican heavy populated area is very familiar to what we eat in Puerto Rico.

  3. Sancochos is the closest thing to a national dish. This is a stew containing a variety of meat and vegetables. It includes everything from  pork and beef to chicken and goat (depends on the recipe). I've seen some recipes that also contain fish.
