I have just finished this book and I could not put it down. It's about a girl who was abused by her father from a young age until she was in her teens. She thought telling her mother would put a stop to it but her mother turned a blind eye.

Eventually she went to the police after her father made her pregnant and instead of the community supporting her when it came out she was treated like a leper. I guess because child abuse was still a taboo subject in the 50's. It's quite hard going in some places reading what she went through, but her determination to survive is an inspiration. I highly recommend it but it's not for the faint hearted as it is quite graphic in parts.
