  1. Health screening for a hospital job is usually done by the Occupational Health Department and isn't nearly as scary as it sounds.

You will be working with patients directly so they will check your Hepatitis B status (i.e. your immunity to Hep B) and if you've not had an immunisation done they will probably do this. This is a very good thing and will help protect you. They ask about other vaccinations that you have had and bring you up to date on them if need be.

They might ask questions about your health generally,  such as any medication you might take. All this is confidential and designed to ensure that you are able to do the job you are employed to do. Not only that but it ensures that you aren't asked to do things that you aren't able to, such as lifting if you have a history of a back problem.

It's fairly straight forward and not usually 'in depth'. The don't, for instance, normally do any physical examination. You might get an eye exam if you are due to work on a computer a lot.

    It's nothing to fear!

  2. Health screens are  usual dependent on the age and gender of the patient. For example, you wouldn't do a cervical exam on a 40y/o man. And you wouldn't check a 20y/o woman's prostate (she won't have one). The general stuff includes:

Routine physical exam and review of systems. Recording of past medical history, family history, social history, any allergies and meds. Blood work is often included, but not necessary. They'll check a blood count, kidney and liver function and maybe cholesterol panel. Check your vaccination history and that should be it. If you're at certain ages or gender screening for breast, cervical, colon or prostate cancer may be evaluated or deferred to a later appointment. That's off the top of my head, hope it helps. Oh, and some govt or military jobs will screen you for drugs, including THC.
