  1. An echocardiogram is a sonogram of the heart. "Doppler" means measuring changes in the reflected frequency, to measure the motion of blood round the heart.  You will find out more in Wikipedia.  If you have personal reason to be interested, your cardiologist is the person to explain the purpose in your own case.
