What is driving distance from Cancun to Merida, Mexico?

I fly into Cancun but am staying in Merida. i am renting car and driving. will it take me about 2 hours to get from Cancun to Merida? Thank you for your answers.

Save time and money and take a luxury bus. It's cheap and faster than driving yourself. Take either the UNO or ADO bus. Comes out to about $25 - $30 one way. They show English movies, have complimentary drinks and the seats are very big and comfortable. The drive is about 3 hours. If you are flying in to Cancun, take the city bus to the main bus terminal for about $2-$3. You can catch the city bus from where the same area you find taxis. Once you are at the terminal, there you will buy tickets for a luxury or first class bus to Merida. The bus will take you close to downtown at the Hotel Fiesta Americana. Once you arrive at the hotel, you can rent a car from Fiesta Americana.

Hope this helps! Have fun! Make sure to check out downtown Merida on a Sunday afternoon. Lots of music, dancing, food and vendors. It's mostly a local thing but many visitors go.

Your drive time will depend on whether you take the cuota (toll road) or the regular (free) roads.  The cuota pretty much has no speed limits and, depending on your speed and any stops, will take you 3 - 4.5 hours.  It will cost about $30US (or at least it did the last time I took it).  The other roads will take you through many small villages with topes (speed bumps), small children, vendors, and dogs all in the road, all of which you should probably slow down for.  It could take substantially longer.  On the other hand, it makes for a more interesting drive as there is almost nothing to see, often not even other vehicles, on the cuota.
